HG 1/144 RAG-79-G1 Gundam Marine Type (Gundiver)
This MSD* version of the MS is a redesigned and upgraded version of the Aqua Jim, developed for ace pilots at the suggestion of the Federation Navy, which was concerned about the Zeon Republic Army's amphibious mobile suits. In this project, it is officially introduced under the codename "Gun Diver".
Designed by Hajime Katoki.
As it is designed to operate underwater, many of its armaments have different characteristics from those of ordinary MS.
Beam Saber
A beam saber with reduced power to prevent it from being affected by steam explosions.
The beam blade could only be formed when it came into contact with an enemy machine, but this was so unpopular that a new version was developed that could form a beam blade at any time, although it was about 70% of a normal saber.
This late model beam pick was also reimported into the Aqua Jim.
The two left side skirts have been omitted and only the two right side skirts are fitted.
Underwater Deflector Beam Rifle
This beam rifle has a thin, focused beam that suppresses the attenuation of mega-particles due to rapid diffusion and loss of thermal energy in water.
It has a removable cover to reduce water resistance.
Torpedo Pods
Two torpedo pods are mounted on the backpack, one on top of each hydrojet engine unit.
Hand anchor
This is also a combat weapon, fitted with the same equipment as the Aqua Jim, and can eject a wire claw to restrain an enemy.
Unlike the Aqua Jim, which was equipped with this weapon on both arms, it is only carried on the right arm.
Bursting Harpoon Gun
Equipped on the left arm, this device fires a harpoon.
The harpoon contains a directional explosive, and like an armour piercing grenade, it penetrates the target's armour before exploding.
It was also adopted as a portable weapon by later generation Aqua Jims.
It was used in battle against the Ze Zulu,
an advanced amphibious aircraft, and the two were evenly matched.
MSD" is an acronym for "Mobile Suit Discovery" and is said to be "a project to compile the vast amount of data on mobile suits that Anaheim Electronics had stored in-house in 0082.
